Raunstrup A/S got a grip on their equipment, and trailers and tools are quick to find

Raunstrup A/S has three nationwide divisions: Construction, Carpentry & Joinery, and Building Services.

The company goes back to 1967, and is at the same time known as a young and inventive organisation. New thinking matters here, so the company deliberately treats new technology as a natural addition to skill and experience.

For the same reason, management sees real potential in digitalising the way tools and equipment are managed. Raunstrup chose kajoule as the route to better results.

The challenge

With more than 300 employees and a great many projects, there is a lot of equipment to keep track of at Raunstrup A/S.
There are plenty of trailers and scaffolds, for instance, that people can struggle to find.

Raunstrup’s previous system left everyone with the feeling that they never had enough trailers, because it was hard to see at a glance where they were.

At the same time Raunstrup was spending money on extra equipment and losing paid hours while people went looking for things, often interrupting each other in the process.
Another challenge was personal tools. Raunstrup A/S issues tool packs to new staff depending on their role. They needed a system that showed what each person had been given, and that helped keep track of tools so the tradespeople did not have to go hunting in the middle of a busy day.
Working with kajoule has been about solving those two problems, so the company can work in a more focused and efficient way.

We have saved a lot of money on tools this year, even though we have been busier. Our managers find it easier to stick to the new procedures that are paying off. At the same time we can plan further ahead, which is a competitive advantage in our trade.

The solution

kajoule gave Raunstrup A/S a technical answer to what they needed: one system, used through software on a computer or an app on the phone, that tracks everything.

The company was trained by kajoule’s people so they would get the most out of it. A classic problem with tool management is that it never gets used. kajoule is therefore both technology and training, with a strong focus on supporting how the customer is organised, for instance by fitting the processes they have chosen and by bringing in outside partners where that helps.

There is now transparency across the organisation, so it is easy to see how each department uses the equipment. If a department is doing better or worse than the others, they can learn from each other, or sort out whatever is going wrong.

In practice, every trailer and scaffold is now tagged with kajoule, so a map shows where each piece of equipment is.

Tool management is handled by putting a kajoule label on every tool. The Bygma chain is part of the arrangement and labels the tools that Raunstrup staff are issued with.

  • Trailers and scaffolds are easy to find on a map
  • The tool store is always up to date
  • Everyone can see the current picture from the app on their phone

The result

Raunstrup A/S has saved a great deal through the new setup. In time and money, but also because the organisation works more professionally now that people can help themselves.

The company is very aware that kajoule delivers both technology and training. That supports the new processes and helps the managers in each department build systematic habits and hold on to them. They benefit from kajoule supporting the actual working day. We call it “Holdninger x Handlinger = Skillinger”, Danish for attitudes times actions equals money, simply because kajoule makes change management work.

kajoule is built on many years of experience in making IT live in the working day, and Raunstrup A/S puts that to use. An IT system only creates value once people actually use it.

Everyone can see where equipment and tools are, and that has created both transparency and happier staff.
In the store there is always a record of which tools each tradesperson has been issued with, and the tradespeople return what they have borrowed.

The same goes for trailers and scaffolds, which come back where they should. They used to end up in random places. Because each one is tied to a named person, there is now a different kind of attention on getting them back to the right place.

Our managers find it easier to hold on to good processes, because kajoule supports systematic ways of working. It is also a real strength that the system comes with both the technology and the training, so it starts working in the day to day quickly.
