Norisol has a great deal of equipment to keep track of day to day, and the system they used for it was on its last legs. So they went looking for something that would show them everything they own, and chose kajoule: one platform for managing tools, equipment, machines and inspections. kajoule now makes a real difference to Norisol day to day. It shows them what they have and makes it easy to see who has it.
The challenge: an ageing system and expensive alternatives
Norisol has more than 45 years behind it in technical insulation, scaffolding and interiors, and a working week with a great deal of equipment and tools in circulation. But the system they used to keep track of it all was out of date and being shut down.
They needed something new that answered the basic questions: who has which piece of equipment, what has been handed back, and when was it last checked? They also had to be able to document statutory inspections and plan the next ones. The systems they looked at charged per user, and that got expensive quickly when a lot of people need access.
The solution: a simple start, a new inspection module and one platform
The answer was kajoule. Norisol exported the data from their old system themselves, and kajoule helped import all 3,500 items into the new one. Every detail carried over, including their own ID numbers, so Norisol did not have to relabel thousands of items and were up and running quickly.
One firm requirement from Norisol was that statutory inspections had to be documented in kajoule. That module was built together with them: Norisol sent their requirements, and kajoule developed the new inspection module on the back of it. It was designed so other companies could use it too, rather than being a one-off built for a single customer.
The result: everything in one place, less hassle and happy users
kajoule has given Norisol something that makes a real difference day to day. Everyone who needs it now works in the same system and can have tools and equipment assigned to them directly. That makes the day far easier to run and makes it simple to follow up on who has what.
It is spreading inside Norisol, with another department already on the way in. We have been out to help them get going, so more people get the benefit of the same setup.
Since we put kajoule into Norisol we have had a different and much sharper focus on tools and equipment, and that shows in the day to day running. Everyone who needs access has it, so we can easily manage equipment loans across colleagues and teams. It saves us a lot of time. We are not out looking for equipment, and we are not buying things we already own. It has been worth enough that we have recommended it to another of our departments, who are now taking kajoule into use as well.
